Description
This five day course is designed to offer comprehensive training on how to lead a bar team, and run a successful beverage program. It is well suited to candidates who are being promoted into the role of Bar Manager from that of a Bartender, but also those who are already doing the role of Bar Manager but who would like to receive thorough training that will help to further develop and refine their skills.
This course will be run a day a week over five weeks, and will entail classroom sessions, workshops and exercises, Q&As with industry leaders, that will all focus on the development of the key skills of successful Bar Management, including:
Leadership Skills & Communication
Creating an effective team: from interview to training, to coaching, and ongoing professional development
Promoting a sense of Inclusion & Belonging, and the benefit to your workplace
Managing people & mental health first aid
Fiscal Management: stock control, ordering and par levels, managing supplier relationships, understanding pouring contracts, calculating and managing the cost of labour
Scheduling Management: authoring a rota (preparation, demand planning, lead times), the cost of staff turnover, employment law 101
Creating and marketing a successful drinks list, calculating ABV and margins
Crisis Management and Conflict Resolution
By the end of the course the student will have written a complete business plan for a theoretical bar, and have developed the structure of their drinks offering, stock control, cleaning schedule, wage cost and rota, training manual, and feedback loops. We will equip them with the digital tools they will need to develop any drinks program.
Prior to the course all students will complete Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument Assessment (provided), and will receive a feedback report as well as a year of access to their platform of resources, enabling the user to constantly work on the agility of their thinking, challenge their biases, and to help them in harnessing the diversity of thought among their team.
At the conclusion of the program every participant will be reviewing and receive a progress report that they can share with their employer or include with their CV.
Cost is £895 per person inclusive of Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument, and one year of access to The Herrmann training modules.
