BIIAB Personal Licence Level 2 Specification

The course will enable the candidates to understand the law pertaining to licensing.

  1. the roles, responsibilities and functions of licensing authorities within the framework of the licensing objectives
  2. the application process for a personal licence
  3. the role and legal responsibilities of the personal licence holder, and the penalties relating to failure to comply with the law
  4. the premises licence
  5. the content and purpose of operating schedules
  6. the role and duties of the designated premises supervisor (DPS)
  7. unauthorised licensable activities
  8. permitted temporary licensable activities
  9. rights of entry to licensed premises
  10. police powers with regard to suspension and closure of licensed premises
  11. the specific prohibitions for the sale of alcohol
  12. the strengths of alcoholic drinks, and the effects of alcohol on the human body
  13. the protection of children from harm
  14. the responsible retail sale of alcohol
