In person courses that are taught at one of our partner venues.

Just like the classroom, but online through zoom, so can be done in the comfort of your own home!

To compliment our remote study options we offer curated tasting kits. We are incredibly proud of the quality of our tasting samples and have included a WSET tasting note for each one! Our tasting kits can be purchased alone, or as part of a course.

We offer WSET Spirits courses for spirits enthusiasts whether professional or otherwise!
Not sure what Level is right for you? Take our quiz to find out.

wset spirits course level 1

WSET level 1 is a beginner level to introduce you to spirits. It is suitable for anyone starting a career in the industry or with a personal interest in spirits.

wset spirits course level 2

WSET level 2 Spirits is an intermediate-level qualification exploring spirits and aromatised wines. It is suitable for those working in the industry or keen spirits enthusiasts.

wset spirits course level 3

WSET Level 3 Award in Spirits. This is an advanced-level qualification for people working in the industry or serious spirits enthusiasts who want to acquire a detailed understanding of the spirits of the world.

Note: the Level 1 Award is a course designed to introduce spirits to folk who have had very little contact with distilled alcohol. While it is a useful grounding for those who are totally new to working in the industry, or to those curious about how spirits are made, it is a one day course with no pre-study, and is not a prerequisite to enrolling on the Level 2 or 3 Awards and as such we offer Level 1 Spirits as a self-guided course, or as a custom course for groups only.

“Amidst a global pandemic, relying totally on virtual learning, The Mixing Class has shepherded my team through the WSET L3 making a tough course digestible and approachable. Both Hannah and Rose are excellent instructors and found easy ways to break down topics like starch conversion, pun intended, while maintaining a professional standard despite teaching remotely.”

“Hannah at The Mixing Class combines encyclopaedic knowledge with a brilliantly effective teaching style and a real sense of fun. A natural entertainer, educator and evangelist, her enthusiasm, creativity and knowledge made a tough WSET Level 3 Spirits Course really engaging. Both Hannah and Rose’s knowledge is incredible, and they are fantastic tutors with an infectious joy for the subject – even the tricky areas. The York Gin team give Hannah, Rose and the Mixing Class full marks. In fact, a month after the course, we invited Hannah to York to judge our first official cocktail competition. Proof that we are massive fans!”

“Rose and The Mixing Class were absolutely fantastic for Praytell. They were mindful of existing knowledge as well as gaps and areas that needed improvement, ensuring we were always pushed without being patronised or left behind. Every day was well structured and covered lots of ground without ever feeling rushed and there was always plenty of opportunity for rich discussion about various topics, whilst allowing the natural tangents that always crop up when spirits people spend time together. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anybody, either an individual or a business; as long as they’re game for knowledge then I don’t think there’s anyone better in the whole industry than Rose and Hannah. Cheers to them!”
